Maxillofacial surgery in Jeddah
expert care for the jaw, face and mouth
Corrective jaw surgery, complex extractions and oral surgery, performed by US- and Canada-trained maxillofacial surgeons in a Saudi clinic.
Surgery that restores function and balance
Oral and maxillofacial surgery treats the harder problems of the mouth, jaw and face: from impacted wisdom teeth and complex extractions to corrective jaw surgery that realigns the bite and restores facial balance. It is where dentistry and surgery meet.
These are not problems to live with. A misaligned jaw can affect how you chew, speak, breathe and sleep; an impacted or infected tooth can cause pain and damage those around it. The right surgery resolves the cause, not just the symptom.
At TAM, this work is carried out by maxillofacial surgeons trained at leading institutions in the United States and Canada, with the experience and the technology to make complex procedures as safe, precise and comfortable as possible.

What maxillofacial surgery treats
Corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery repositions the upper or lower jaw to fix a severe underbite, overbite or open bite, improving how you eat and speak, easing jaw strain, and bringing the face into natural balance.
Surgical extractions handle teeth that a routine removal cannot: impacted wisdom teeth, broken-down roots, or teeth lying close to nerves and sinuses. Performed by a specialist, these are safer, gentler and heal more predictably.
The same expertise supports other treatments: bone grafting and sinus lifts that prepare the jaw for implants, and the management of jaw-joint (TMJ) problems and facial trauma.

Planned in 3D, performed with precision
Surgical success begins with precise planning. We use 3D imaging to map the bone, nerves and sinuses, so every procedure is planned in detail before you ever reach the operating chair.
Wherever possible we use minimally invasive techniques and modern anaesthesia (including sedation or general anaesthesia for larger cases) to keep you comfortable and your recovery as short as it can be.
For patients travelling from abroad, we plan the surgery, recovery and any follow-up around your time in Jeddah, and stay reachable after you return home, so you are supported at every stage.
The terms, explained
| Term | What it means |
| Maxillofacial surgery | Surgery of the mouth, jaws and face, performed by a specialist surgeon. |
| Orthognathic surgery | Corrective jaw surgery that repositions the jaws to fix the bite and facial balance. |
| Impacted tooth | A tooth (often a wisdom tooth) that is stuck and cannot fully emerge, needing surgical removal. |
| Bone graft | A procedure that rebuilds lost jawbone, often to prepare for implants. |
| Sinus lift | A graft that adds bone in the upper jaw where the sinus sits close to the teeth. |
| TMJ | The temporomandibular (jaw) joint; its disorders can cause pain, clicking and limited movement. |
| Osteotomy | The precise surgical cut and repositioning of bone used in jaw correction. |
| Sedation / general anaesthesia | Options that keep you fully comfortable during larger procedures. |
A plain-language guide to the words you’ll hear around oral and maxillofacial surgery, so nothing about your care is a mystery.
What to expect, step by step
We assess your jaw, bite and symptoms, take 3D scans, and plan the procedure in detail. For jaw surgery this may involve coordinating with an orthodontist. You receive a clear plan, timeline and fixed price in writing before anything begins.
Depending on the procedure, we prepare you for local anaesthesia, sedation or general anaesthesia, with clear guidance on what to do beforehand. For jaw correction, braces or aligners are sometimes fitted in advance to align the teeth.
The procedure is carried out by your maxillofacial surgeon in a fully equipped, sterile setting. Minimally invasive techniques are used wherever possible, and your comfort and safety are monitored throughout. Many oral surgeries are day procedures.
We give you detailed aftercare (managing swelling, diet and activity) and a clear recovery timeline. Larger cases need a short period of close monitoring before you travel, and we stay reachable for check-ins after you return home.
Before & After

Frequently asked questions
-
Is maxillofacial surgery painful?
You’re kept fully comfortable during surgery with local anaesthesia, sedation or general anaesthesia as appropriate, so you feel no pain during the procedure. Afterwards, any discomfort is managed with medication and settles as you heal; we give you a clear plan to keep recovery as smooth as possible.
-
How long is recovery?
It depends on the procedure. A surgical extraction may need only a few days; corrective jaw surgery involves a couple of weeks of initial recovery and several months for full healing. We give you a realistic timeline at the consultation so you can plan travel and time off.
-
Will jaw surgery change how my face looks?
Often, yes. Usually for the better. Correcting a jaw set too far back or forward brings the face into more natural balance as well as improving the bite. We plan the result with you in advance using 3D imaging.
-
Do I need braces with jaw surgery?
Frequently, yes. Many corrective jaw cases involve orthodontic treatment before and after surgery to align the teeth precisely. We coordinate the whole plan so the surgical and orthodontic steps fit together.
-
Can wisdom teeth be removed in a single visit?
In most cases, yes (including impacted ones), as a day procedure under local anaesthesia or sedation. We confirm after reviewing your X-rays, which is one reason the pre-travel consultation matters.
-
Is it safe to travel after surgery?
After larger procedures we keep you under observation for a few days and advise when it’s safe to fly. We plan your trip around this and stay reachable once you’re home, so you’re never left without support.
-
Do I need a consultation before I travel to Jeddah?
Yes, and it’s free. A short virtual consultation lets us review your X-rays or photos, confirm whether a root canal is the right treatment, and send you a clear plan and a fixed, all-inclusive price in writing before you book a flight.
-
Are your surgeons licensed, and can I verify it?
Every surgeon is licensed and verifiable through the Saudi Ministry of Health, and our maxillofacial team holds degrees from named institutions in the United States and Canada. The credentials are real and checkable. We’ll gladly share them at your consultation.
